There has been some recent confusion regarding the procedure for applying for GMC Membership:
When leaving the Czech Republic, the GMC will ask for the following documents:
- Photocopy of passport
- Diploma (Copy of Original & Translated)
If you began your basic medical training or qualified before 1 May 2004 you will also need to hold either:
- A document from the Czech Ministry of Health which confirms that the training leading to the award of your Czech primary medical qualification meets the standards detailed in Article 24 of Directive 2005/36/EC.

“Although I did do all of that Prague Ministry of Health stuff and Police Check stuff, I was never asked for it by anyone and the GMC guidelines have no mention of any of it, so that’s why I would say you don’t need to do any of it. All I needed was all the degree documents that the University gives gives (both Czech and English copies are provided by University), and a passport copy. In my opinion the rest is pointless! “
